Los Angeles Marathon

Get ready, get set and go! This year will be HI-Los Angeles' 12th consecutive year as a participant in the Official Charities Program for the City of Los Angeles Marathon. The LA Marathon is a 26.2 mile long block party celebrating the best that is Los Angeles. We are very proud to be a part of this annual event. This year the event will take place on Sunday, March 4th.

So why is the Marathon such an important event for us? Well, every year one hundred percent of the proceeds go to support the HI-USA youth education program Discover Your World. The program teaches environmental and marine science, interpersonal skills, and intercultural understanding to students from all over the Los Angeles area. The program provides a positive life changing experience for students, many of whom come from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. It honors and truly meets our mission "to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling."

TAKE PART IN OUR PLEDGE DRIVE AND YOU MAY WIN TWO FIRST CLASS EURAIL PASSES!

Cambria HostelHI-Cambria/The Bridge Street Inn is a cozy European-style guest house located in the historic East Village of Cambria. A charming stopping point that is sure to remind you of a home-away-from-home, and an affordable alternative to the plain box-motels and expensive B&Bs. The inn, constructed in 1893, is the old parsonage for the still operating church next door.

At four hours from Los Angeles to the south and San Francisco to the north, HI-Cambria sits amidst a volleyball lawn in a small, quaint village on California’s scenic highway 1. Cambria is a quintessential California beach town and artist enclave that promises relaxation and no stress. With so many things to do, from hiking, biking, great restaurants, galleries and the seashore, you are sure to enjoy your visit. It is also a great launching point to many daytrips available in the area: located 1 mile from Moonstone Beach, 6 miles from Hearst Castle, 14 miles from the elephant seal colony and lighthouse at Piedras Blancas, and a short car ride to Morrow Bay, San Simeon and Pismo Beach. A unique and natural place where people come to escape the noise and chaos of the city, where people greet each other as they pass by on the street and be reminded of a simpler time. Don’t miss your opportunity to relax, visit and stay awhile at HI-Cambria. For more information go to www.BridgeStreetInnCambria.com or to make a booking please contact the hostel by phone at (805) 927-7653 or by email at bridgestreetinn@yahoo.com.
