Los Angeles Marathon Pledge Drive

We are proud to be one of the nonprofit organizations selected to participate in the Official Charities Program of The City of Los Angeles Marathon XXV. This year’s event will take place on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th. Since 1995, we have participated in this annual event to raise funds for our educational youth programs. Our 2009 goal is to raise $10,000. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of the funds will be used to support our environmental and cultural educational programs and outreach activities such as Discover Your World, Cultural Kitchen, the HI-Travel Grant and our World Travel 101 workshops. It is through your support that we are able to fulfill the HI-USA vision, “that hostellers become caring world citizens who are catalysts for intercultural exchange and understanding, and who are stewards of the earth.”

In return for your support and thanks to our generous sponsors, we will be holding an Opportunity Drawing at our Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 7th. To participate in the Opportunity Drawing simply collect pledges or make a pledge yourself. For every $10 donated, a ticket is given to both the pledge-raiser and the pledge-donor (unless they are the same person, in which case, only one ticket will be issued). Rail Europe has donated a pair of First Class 15-Day Eurail Global FlexiPasses, valued at over $2000, as the Grand Prize. Other prizes include a year of DirecTV Service with System and one year of free programming, an HI Life Membership, gift certificates to great restaurants, tickets to amusement parks, and more.
