Physical Activity at your Workplace

Play an active role in making your work environment more conducive to healthy/active lifestyles. There are so many good reasons for you to get started.

Nutrition and physical activity are important parts of achieving and maintaining good health. People who eat healthy foods and are physically active on a regular basis are at lower risk for the major killers in the United States: heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Other benefits of nutrition and physical activity include:

  • Better health

  • Less tension and stress

  • Better sleep patterns

  • Enhanced self-image

  • Improved physical function

  • Weight management

  • More energy

START TODAY:
According to the State of California's "Take Action at Work" program, to succeed in convincing management to support efforts, you must clearly communicate the resources you will need to start and maintain your program. Determine what you will need before you meet with management. Do not forget to consider time, people, and space as resources. Among these are:

  • Time for the Program Coordinator, Planning Committee, and Team Captains to plan, promote, and coordinate the program

  • Time for participants to attend the program's kickoff event

  • Time for everyone to celebrate the results

  • Space for committee meetings, the kickoff event, and the closing celebration event

  • Money for promotional materials, the kickoff, the closing celebration, and incentive awards. More resources needed from www.TakeActionCa.com.

Be creative when planning your Take Action! program to make the best use of resources.
