Bike around Town - or Bike & Bus
It's easier than you may think to combine biking and the bus
or metro to work. Get your exercise AND avoid the parking, traffic and stress of
driving. Ride part of the way - then hop on the bus.
Did you
know:
-
Almost all MTA buses in
L.A. County have easy-to-use bike racks.
-
Los Angeles
currently has 251 miles of off-street, exclusive bike paths, and Metro has the
goal to increase it to 500 miles. See
bike/bus map.
-
Metro has placed 285 bike
lockers and 400 racks capable of holding a total of 800 bicycles at Metro Rail
and Metrolink stations.
-
There's
a bike lane along Venice Blvd. all the way from Venice & Figueroa downtown to
the beach!
-
There are 481 miles of
designated on-street bike lanes, which Metro’s strategic bike plan envisions
tripling and 520 miles of bike routes marked by signage.
-
See
write ups on great routes from Glendale
to West Hollywood, UCLA and Pasadena, as well as photos of the Santa Monica
Bike trail.
Download a
bike/bus map (pdf file) and try a bike
(with bus) commute a few days every
week. Visit
CommuteSmart to find a bicycle friendly route to your destination, anywhere
in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside or San Bernadino Counties.
